Each year in November, The Edward de Bono Institute at the University of Malta (UM) coordinates a programme of events in collaboration with a variety of partner organisations to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). This is an international initiative – now in its 15th year – that promotes originality, creativity and ingenuity through thousands of events in nearly 200 countries
Malta’s GEW 2022 programme included a workshop on strategy and innovation for Quick Lets and Zanzi Homes franchise owners and leaders; a business concept pitching event for UM MBA students; presentations at UM's TAKEOFF Incubator for UM Master in Creativity and Innovation students by the manager Ing. Joe Bartolo about the services offered to start-ups, and by a number of entrepreneurs about their entrepreneurial journeys; and a visit to Invent 3D Ltd. where founder Ing. David Sciberras shared his own start-up story and showed attendees around his 3D print farm.
Also included in Malta’s GEW 2022 programme was an awards ceremony organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Malta in Turkey to present Bilkent University students with certificates for completing an online course on 'Ideas and Innovation' with The Edward de Bono Institute earlier this year; an online information session on 'Malta's National Ecosystem Showcase: Resources, Incentives and Support' (the recording of which is available ); and a Postgraduate Research Seminar comprising presentations by students on their recently completed dissertations or ongoing research, and a guest lecture by Professor Giovanni Corazza from the University of Bologna as part of a series of lectures by renowned scholars to mark the Institute's 30th anniversary.

This year’s local programme was concluded with an interactive workshop on innovation conducted by GEW Malta’s National Host, Dr Leonie Baldacchino, as part of TradeMalta's Go Global training programme, with the participation of business leaders in various stages of the internationalisation process. Dr Baldacchino was also honoured to be invited as a panellist on an online discussion related 'Entrepreneurial Policies and Challenges in the Digital Era', hosted by GEN Pakistan and GEW Host Sri Lanka. She expresses her thanks to all the Institute’s partners and participants for making this another memorable GEW.
