The University of Malta participated recently at the kick-off meeting of the SEA-EU 2.0 alliance held within the premises of the coordinator of the same Alliance, the University of Cadiz. The kick-off represented an intensive week of meetings between representatives from all nine SEA-EU 2.0 participating Universities, at Governing Board, Executive Committee and Technical Subcommittee levels, as well as meetings between relevant stakeholders represented within the Cities and Ports Councils. This week in Cadiz was also capitalised upon for meetings to be held within the ambit of the research-EU project, a sister project of SEA-EU.
The SEA-EU 2.0 alliance is an EU-funded project (funded within the ambit of the European Universities - Intensification of prior deep institutional transnational cooperation [Topic 1] ERASMUS-EDU-2022-EUR-UNIV-1 Call) which will run for four years and which follows on the three-year-long success of the previous (SEA-EU 1.0) alliance.
served as UM Rector鈥檚 Delegate within the SEA-EU 1.0 alliance. The alliance is a nexus for nine different maritime European Universities, which cover geographically the length and breadth of the European continent, from Norway to Malta, from Portugal to Poland. The alliance also includes a community of 75 associated partners including research centres, businesses, cities and province authorities, public entities, NGOs and non-profit organizations, international clusters of excellence and ports.
THE SEA-EU vision is to establish a distinctly international, pluri-ethnic, multi-lingual and interdisciplinary European University. This vision is rooted in the high quality and excellence in education and research of the alliance with the intent to strengthen the links between teaching, research, innovation and knowledge transfer. The University of Malta leads Work-package 6, which deals with Dissemination and Impact aspects.
