For another consecutive year, during the past two months, ) in collaboration with ) organised a series of construction site visits, giving the opportunity to students from the to visit a number of construction sites and factories to expand their knowledge on the industry.
The sites included Smart Shopping Mall, MFA Technical Centre, Quad Central, Mercury Towers, Verdala projects and the Attard Brothers factory. These visits varied from construction projects to concrete manufacturing and steel fabrication plants.
Each site offered an opportunity for the students to understand the importance of various topics such as the project team structure, coordination, site logistics, health and safety, and even BIM technology. Particular attention was also given to the significance of geotechnical investigations prior to the commencement of a project and the inclusion of shoring, especially when excavation is involved.
Sustainability was also discussed. As technology is evolving, so are construction materials and building technology solutions. All professionals leading the visits encouraged the students to expand their knowledge on this matter and integrate this in their university projects in preparation for their career in the construction industry.
