, a lecturer in educational leadership at the European University Cyprus, visited the Department of Leadership for Learning and Innovation at the between 19-21 April 2023. This KA1 staff training mobility, which was coordinated by , consisted of a series of meetings, observations, follow-up discussions, presentations and a school visit.
Dr Theodosiou had the opportunity to meet the Head of Department and Deputy Dean, to discuss the work carried out by the and the postgraduate course in . Following this, she also had a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty, during which he mentioned the Faculty’s work with regards to teacher education and possible collaborative opportunities between the two universities on educational leadership. Meetings with Dr James Calleja, coordinator of the course and leader of , focused on leadership qualities for school improvement and a possible joint Erasmus+ project involving primary schools in lesson study. Besides these meetings and follow-up discussions, Dr Theodosiou also attended a lecture in the MA in Educational Leadership and Management course which focused on the research project.
On her final day, Dr Theodosiou visited Maria Regina College to observe a lesson study meeting. This meeting, which involved a discussion among Year 2 teachers, an assistant head of school and the lesson study facilitator, was part of a series of meetings during which these educators were collaboratively planning a lesson that was aimed to improve students’ thinking and problem solving skills in mathematics. Following this meeting, Dr Theodosiou had a meeting with Ms Claire Debono, the head of school, with whom she discussed the purpose of engaging educators in lesson study and the school’s initiatives to develop both students’ numeracy and literacy skills and competences.
