Dr Polidano presented findings from her doctoral study focusing on the mental health needs of young adults with a stoma, which served as a springboard for further ongoing research. Funded by the UK鈥檚 National Institute for Health and Care Research, the Stoma Support Study is seeking to develop applied health interventions aimed at supporting young people with an IBD stoma to manage psychological distress and training healthcare professionals to help them identify and manage stoma-related distress.
