The University of Malta will be co-ordinating the Erasmus+ partnership project (2023-1-MT01-KA220-SCH-000154134) entitled Children as creators of Augmented Reality Stories (CARS). The project seeks to promote Augmented Reality (AR) as a pedagogical resource through which children can create and share their own stories as part of their language learning experience. To attain this the project will provide technical and pedagogical training to several teachers on the use and deployment of AR in language learning classes. Furthermore, the project seeks to investigate the impact of AR on teachers’ and pupils’ academic emotional experiences.
The project comprises a partnership between two other research institutions the University of Burgos (Spain) and CYENS Centre of Excellence (Cyprus) and three schools Colegio Aurelio Gomez (Spain), Dimotiko Scholeio Agias Napas (Cyprus) and St. Catherine’s High School (Malta). The project is planned to kick-off in December 2023 until July 2026.
The principal investigator for this project is Dr Ing. Lawrence Farrugia Caruana (DTEE) who together with Dr Jacqueline Zammit (DLHE) and Dr Leonard Busuttil (DTEE) will be participating in this project. Dr Ing. Farrugia Caruana was assisted by Ms Sarah Albanozzo, Research Project Manager at the Research Support ¸£ÀûÔÚÏßÃâ·Ñ Directorate, who provided valuable advice regarding project strategy and proposal writing.
