The Department of Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education has just extended its Outreach Programme to include a new collaboration with the Office of the Commissioner for Older Persons (CfOP). This was launched on 16 November 2023 with a half-day workshop facilitated by Dr Maria Brown on 'Servicing Older Adults with a Lifelong Education Perspective: Mapping and Networking Good Practices'. In fulfilment of its work programme for Quality Lifelong Education, and its commitment to Active Ageing, the CfoP sponsored the participation of representatives of state entities whose work includes servicing older adults.
Entities represented among participants included the Office of the Commissioner for Mental Health, the Malta Police Force, servizz.gov, the Victim Support Agency, the Active Ageing and Community Care, and the Ministry for Active Ageing. Further workshops and an accredited unit on intergenerational service-provision that fosters lifelong education will be delivered to support the continuous professional development of human resources who frontline service provision to older adults in state, private and community sectors.
