Highlighting the importance of retrieving practices that enable us to view and relate with one another as brothers and sisters, especially those who are politically excluded, Rev. Dr Carlo Calleja, a member of the Department of Moral Theology in the Faculty of Theology, recently published a book which emphasizes the cultivation of civic virtues through such practices. Dr Calleja formally presented the publication to the University Rector, Professor Alfred Vella, earlier last month.
During the meeting, Prof. Vella and Dr Calleja spoke about the significance of theological perspectives in shaping socio-political landscapes, particularly in advocating for the rights and dignity of the most vulnerable. They also discussed the invaluable contribution of the Faculty of Theology to professional life in various fields, not least through the MA in Environmental Ethics, the MA in Bioethics, and the MA in Business Ethics.
Titled Communities of Kinship: Retrieving Christian Practices of Solidarity with Lepers as a Paradigm for Overcoming Exclusion of Older People, Dr Calleja’s monograph is published by Fortress Press, an imprint of Rowman and Littlefield. The book is available for purchase , directly from the Faculty of Theology, or through the author himself.
