Dr Galea qualified in medicine in 1984 at the University of Malta and trained as a public health physician at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He was Director of the Institute of Health Care, the precursor of the Faculty of Health Sciences. He has recently retired from his appointment as Strategic Advisor to the WHO Regional Director and Head of the Special Initiative on Noncommunicable Diseases and Innovation.
His wealth of experience, research acumen, and interdisciplinary approach make him an invaluable addition to the University of Malta's academic community as an Honorary Professor.
