On the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's christening, on 26 April, Professor Hermann Haller of the City University of New York, spoke to students taking Italian Linguistics about "John Florio, promotore della lingua e cultura italiana in Inghilterra negli anni di Shakespeare". Professor Haller kindly presented a copy of his critical edition of Florio's A Worlde of Wordes (800 pages, 2013) to Mr Kevin Ellul for the University Library.
Professor Joseph M. Brincat also donated a copy of Parole migranti tra Oriente e Occidente by Giovanni Ruffino and Roberto Sottile, published by the CSFLS of Palermo in 2016. This book traces words that travelled from the East to the West and vice-versa and, obviously, met in Sicily and Malta too.
An article written by Professor Brincat and Professor Manwel Mifsud about word formation in Maltese has just been published in De Gruyter-Mouton's Word Formation in European Languages, volume 5. Persons wishing to obtain a free pdf copy may write an email to .
