The School of Performing Arts (SPA) has recently launched the following three research groups:
* Performance 21: 21st Studies in Performance, directed by Prof. Frank Camilleri
* CaP: Research in Culture and Performance, directed by Dr Mario Frendo
* Research in Performing Arts Histories and Historiographies, co-directed by Prof. Vicki Ann Cremona and Dr Brandon Shaw
These groups support SPA research by creating bridges between specialised expertise and interdisciplinary explorations, while also offering possibilities to create networks and collaborations with entities beyond the School and the University of Malta. In fact, in each Centre scholars and practitioners from the Departments of Theatre, Dance, and Music are joined by colleagues as affiliated members from UoM faculties and departments like Digital Arts, English, Philosophy, History, Maltese Studies, Archive Science, and Intelligent Computer Systems. Links with international universities like those of Kent, Bedfordshire, DeMontfort, Stockholm, Poznan, Chester, and Tasmania have already been established, and the groups are looking into extending these in the next couple of months.
The event was moderated by Dr Carmen Sammut, Pro-Rector for Students & Staff Affairs and Outreach.
