The Department of Nursing has been awarded a grant of EUR 334,730 for a project which will run to August 2019, under the Erasmus+ programme. The main aim of the project, I-SPAD is two-fold: (1) To develop a training course for simulation instructors and (2) to develop a simulation kit comprising of three resources, which may be used across the three years of undergraduate nursing programmes.
Led by the Department of Nursing at the University of Malta, the project comprises partnership amongst several European education entities. These are are Hogskolen I Oslo O Akershus Norway, University College Dublin Ireland, Universit脿 degli Studi del Molise Italy, Middlesex University U.K., Cardiff University U.K., Turun Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy, Satakunnan Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy, Lahden Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy and Jyvaskylan Ammattikorkeakoulu, Finland.
Consultants from Australia, South Korea and the Middle East will support through advisory services to the project, thus securing global relevance of the training course and the simulation kit which will be developed in the course of the project.
Dr Roberta Sammut, Mr Justin Lee Mifsud and Dr Maria Cassar, the nurse academics leading this project, believe that this project will translate into a significant contribution towards the strengthening of the clinical component of nurse education programmes at the University of Malta.
