Professor Peter Mayo, Head of the Department of Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education at the University of Malta, recently delivered lectures in Sardinia and London on Antonio Gramsci. He was invited by the Gramsci Association of Sardinia to deliver a talk on 'Gramsci, Culture and Adult Education' at a seminar held on 15 March at the University of Cagliari as part of a series of events marking the 80th anniversary of Antonio Gramsci's death. Professor Mayo delivered his talk in Italian.
Later in the month, he travelled to London where he delivered two talks on the topic of 'Hegemony and Education under Neoliberalism. Insights from Gramsci', the title of a recent book of his which has just been published by Routledge in paperback.
His first talk was delivered on 28 March at UCL's Institute of Education as part of his commitment to this Institution as Visiting Professor for the two-year period from October 2016 till September 2018. It was delivered to a packed room. This was a talk in the seminar series of the Institution's Centre for Life Chances and Knowledge Economies and Societies (LLAKES).

The second talk, this time at Goldsmiths' Richard Hoggart Building, was a more intimate interactive one held on 29 March. This is the third time Professor Mayo was invited to give a seminar at Goldsmiths, University of London, the previous one having been delivered in 2011 at the College's Stuart Hall Building. It is also the third time Professor Mayo gave a LLAKES public lecture at the Institute of Education.
