The Palestinian writer, lawyer and political activist Raja Shehadeh, author of the best-selling and award-winning Palestinian Walks — Notes on a Vanishing Landscape (2007), has donated autographed copies of two of his books to the University of Malta Library.
The two titles, Occupation Diaries and Il Pallido Dio delle Colline (the Italian translation of Palestinian Walks) were presented to the University of Malta Library by Dr Norbert Bugeja, on behalf of Mr Shehadeh. They will be regularly available for students to peruse and make an excellent addition to the Library’s existing collections.
Besides his profile as an author of international renown and a foremost advocate for Palestine, Raja Shehadeh is also a founder of the human rights organisation Al-Haq, an affiliate of the International Commission of Jurists and the author of several books about international law, human rights and the Middle East.
Raja Shehadeh was awarded the prestigious Orwell Prize for political writing for his memoir Palestinian Walks. Amongst his other bestselling works are A Rift in Time — Travels with my Ottoman Uncle (2011), Strangers in the House (2010), and Seeking Palestine: New Palestinian Writing on Exile and Home, co-edited with Penny Johnson.
