Dr Ian P. Cassar from the Department of Economics, has been appointed as member of the Ph.D Scientific Committee for the Ph.D program in quantitative methods for economic policy held at the University of Macerata, Italy. As a member of the Scientific Committee Dr Cassar was invited to deliver a short course on the foundations and applications of input-output analysis, which is his main area of research.
This specialized course forms part of the Ph.D. Program in quantitative methods for economic policy and was aimed at introducing its participants to the basics of supply and use and input-output statistical frameworks as well as providing students with an understanding of the mainstream methodologies and applications of input-output analysis.
Dr Cassar hopes that this initiative will spur on further collaboration between the University of Malta and the University of Macerata in the form of joint research projects as well promote student exchanges.
