Trainees from Craiova University, Romania, and Scuola Superiore Per Mediatori Linguistici, Torino, joined their Maltese counterparts for a two-week traineeship at the Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies. Sessions were regularly held in the interpreters’ laboratory, the terminology centre and the IT ¸£ÀûÔÚÏßÃâ·Ñ facilities.
During their stay Romanian, Italian and Maltese students shared experiences and attended translation and interpreting sessions. They followed a proficiency course in English specifically designed by the Department besides visiting historical sites in Malta and the European Capital of Culture – Valletta 2018.
Prof. Joseph Eynaud, Ms Nadia Saliba, Ms Victoria Dimech together with their Italian counterparts Ms Claudia Borgo and Maria Petitti designed a curriculum plan including sight translation, note-taking for consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting skills, voice training, public speaking, language proficiency, glossaries’ compilation and evaluation techniques.
