The Facilities Management Unit, in collaboration with the Office for Human Resources Management & Development, organised a team building event for all beadles and senior beadles at UM. Members of staff from the Facilities Management Unit were also present. ‘Making a Difference Together’ was the title of the event held on Monday 2 April at Mount Saint Joseph Retreat House in Mosta and which attracted 47 participants.
The objective of this team building event was to create an informal and relaxed environment, away from the workplace while at the same time an informative and pleasant event for the participants. This initiative focused on the way that messengerial staff can function more effectively as a team, improve their work relationships, create a sense of community while introducing the concept of working towards a common goal.
The event started off with a speech by the Facilities Manager, Ing Reuben Mifsud, who gave a brief overview of the aims of the event and highlighted the importance of teamwork.
Three main team building activities were organised throughout the day. Mr Patrick Psaila, the Director of and , facilitated the activities which were based on interactive learner-centred games and challenges. The activities focused on the importance of teamwork, key qualities that make a great team, leadership qualities and how these elements can be applied at the workplace. All activities required a great deal of collaboration and teamwork for their successful completion.
Towards the end of the team building event, beadles who had successfully completed training workshops at UM during 2016 and 2017 were presented with a certificate by Ms Jacqueline Fenech, Director for Human Resources Management & Development.
Details on upcoming events and a number of training initiatives organised by the Office for Human Resources Management & Development may be found on the HRMD website.
