On 1 October 2018, Professor Carmel Cefai, Director at the Centre for Resilience and Socio-Emotional Health, was invited to address an international conference in Vilnius, Lithuania on ‘How do we educate our future leaders today: emotional intelligence vs. artificial intelligence‘, organised by the European Association of Institutions of Non-formal Education of Children and Youth (EAICY). During the conference attended by 250 experts and policy makers, Prof. Cefai discussed how social and emotional education may be effectively integrated in the curriculum in schools.
Later on in the week, Prof. Cefai was also an invited speaker on the role of systems in promoting resilience in children and young people at the 12th Regional Congress on Psychotherapy in Beirut, Lebanon held under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon.
