For the second year running, the Faculty for Social Wellbeing organised the Dean's Forum, a debating society that saw the participation of 22 students and 7 academic mentors and research officers.
Held at the UM Msida Campus LT 2, the debate included the following issues; 'Istrina-isation is good for society'; 'Early political education reduces party polarisation'; 'Immigration erodes community'; 'Gender transition is an adult process'; and 'Euthanasia is my choice'. The event was compared by the popular TV presenter, actor and producer Clare Agius and included a live performance by The Busker band.
Over 130 students, academics and stakeholders attended this event. This year's winners were Team Yellow, made up of Kerry Hermitage, Stephanie Bugeja, Brian St John and Louisa Serge. The Dean, Prof. Andrew Azzopardi and the Deputy Dean, Dr Greta Darmanin Kissaun, together with Pro-Rectors Prof. Joe Cacciattolo and Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino, were present.
The event was organised by the Faculty administrative team, Ms Marija Grech, Ms Lucienne Brincat and Ms Lara Ellul. Dr Sue Vella, Dr Albert Bell, Dr Katya Degiovanni and Ph.D. candidates Mr Aleksandar.Dimitrijevic, Ms Carmen Mangion and Ms Luke Buhagiar were the judges.
