The Faculty for Social Wellbeing organised its annual Dean's Award Ceremony. The event, presided by HE the President Emeritus Dr Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, Prof. Alfred Vella, Rector and the Dean Prof. Andrew Azzopardi, was held at the UM Valletta Campus and almost 300 people attended. Pro-Rector for International Development & Quality Assurance, Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino, the Registrar, Ms Veronica Grech, the Deputy Dean, Dr Greta Darmanin Kissaun, and the heads of the various departments within the Faculty, were present.  
  Stakeholders, students, family members, academic and administrative staff had the opportunity to savour music by The Busker and Odelsie Camilleri; video clips and short speeches and a reception followed. The compere was Samantha Pace Gasan, an alumna of the Faculty, 
  Naturally, the highlight was the award-giving ceremony part of the event.
  The Dr Jacqueline Azzopardi Social Engagement Award was won by the late Charles Miceli for his commitment to the cause of social exclusion, while the Social Commitment Award  by Ms Marie' Micallef, a third year Psychology student, for her sterling work with Malta Girl Guides and her commitment to mental health. The Christa Formosa Alfred Mizzi Foundation Award was won by Ms Manuela Testa, a graduate in social work. The Special Award - Ministry of Gozo was given to Ms Danica Ann Cassar.
The students who attained excellence in their studies and hence placed on the Dean's List for undergraduate courses are Hanien Alouzi Abdulnasser, Bianca Anastasi, Sherylanne Aquilina, Valentina Bezzina, Solange Ignatia Bonello, Alessia Camilleri, Jonathan Cassar, Gabriel Galea, Martha Galea, Judy Magri, Clayton Micallef, Chantelle Mifsud, Nicole Piscopo and Manuela Testa. The postgraduate students on the Dean's List are Miriam Agius, Charlene Aquilina, Alexandra Bach, Gabrielle Bartoli, Veronica Debono, Jeanine Engerer Balzan, Michelle Frendo, Etienne Gatt, Marie Claudette Gauci, Catherine Smith, Adriana Vella and Tizian Zammit.
