The Division of Rural Sciences and Food Systems within the University of Malta, and Diversification and Competitiveness Directorate within the Ministry for The Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change, in collaboration with Malta University Consulting Ltd, organised an eight session viticulture course to farmers and growers within the sector.
The sessions were delivered by Dr Antoine Vella, Mr Gilbert Camilleri, Mr Darren Borg, Mr Roger Aquilina, Dr Anthony Sacco and Prof. Everaldo Attard. Topics included defence strategies, plant nutrition, canopy management, winter/green pruning, aiming for quality wines, soil management, water and Irrigation, and varieties and grape quality.
Thirty-five participants, who completed the course successfully, were awarded a Certificate of Attendance on 21 February 2019. The participants were satisfied with the course content and expressed their willingness to attend more outreach courses.
