The Department of Insurance organised a business visit to London on the 22 March 2019.
The insurance tour started with a visit to Lloyds of London wherein students witnessed the activity of syndicates, brokers, and underwriters busily negotiating insurance in this unique market place. Thereafter, the group was taken to the Monument commemorating the 1666 great fire of London, an event which lead to the first forms of fire insurance in the UK coming into being. The Chartered Insurance Institute was the next stop where students were briefed on the role and function of this international training institute. The tour was completed with a visit to one of the world’s largest reinsurer – MunichRe.
