The sixth edition of the engineering Ph.D. summer school on ‘Integrated Product Development’ (IPD) was recently held in Malta. The summer school is annually hosted in Malta by Prof. Jonathan C. Borg from the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering (DIME) at the University of Malta and consists of a number of sessions involving both academics as well as speakers from industry.
The IPD Summer School, endorsed by The Design Society, attracts researchers interested in understanding and researching the inter-relationships between design, manufacturing and business issues, besides complex aspects involved in the life-cycle of products and services.
This year’s IPD summer school included training sessions by Dr Philip Farrugia, Dr Emmanuel Francalanza and Dr Joseph Zammit all from DIME. The participants came from Austria, France, Germany, Malta and Tunisia.
