Professor Peter Mayo from the Department of Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education, was invited speaker at the 2019 International Critical Pedagogy Conference organised by and held at the University of Naples Federico II in Naples, Italy. Professor Mayo delivered a talk on Critical Pedagogy in International Perspective with due attention given to the work of Paulo Freire, Antonio Gramsci, Lorenzo Milani, Ada Gobetti, Antonia Darder, Starhawk and to various contexts such as Latin America, North America, Italy and Turkey. The talk was based on a 2017 book he co-authored with the conference convenor, Professor Paolo Vittoria, entitled Saggi di Pedagogia Critica. Oltre il neoliberismo… educatori, lotte e movimenti sociali published in Florence by Società Editrice Fiorentina (SEF). The book is currently being revised and translated for inclusion in Bloomsbury Academic series, Critical Education, edited by Professor Mayo.
