Having felt the need to reach out to the public through the provision of free mental health support, the University of Malta鈥檚 within the Faculty of Health Sciences set up a Facebook Page called .
This collaboration between lecturers and students of the department has yielded tips on how to mentally cope with the current situation, which are regularly posted on this page.
In fact, the aim of the page is not to serve as a help line but as a platform for sharing evidence-based coping mechanisms in order to motivate people to safeguard their mental well-being during this situation.
Of all the relevant material the members of the Department come across, the most reliable morsels of information are repurposed and passed on to the public for their enjoyment, use and action.
The administrators of the page are the student representatives of the full time BSc Mental Health Nursing course, Francesca Sammut and Daniela Cassar, along with the departmental lecturers.
All posts are credited to the person who uploads them and their content is referenced so as to enhance credibility.
Regular posts include a daily good morning post in a story-telling format, a video clip about psychological coping skills, expert guidelines (such as the ones issued by the World Health Organisation) that are translated to Maltese and re-structured as daily tips and motivational quotes.
External contributions are also invited and then reviewed by the administrators prior to uploading.
