The has been working hard during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that its students keep receiving a high-quality education, seamlessly. The staff reacted immediately to adjust to new realities. All lectures delivered by the Faculty have gone online, students were given access to specialised software licenses through vendors from home, portable hardware that students needed for their projects was lent to them using a safe protocol, and supervision of the work of students was kept regular through online platforms.
This ensured that all teaching activity kept with the timetable without disruptions.
Now that the UM is in the examination phase, the Faculty of ICT opted for a number of different modes of assessment. These include assignments, timed take home exams, take home exams, multiple choice questions and oral examinations.
Processes were put in place to support our students while sitting for their exams from home.
These processes include a fifteen-minute Zoom session to ensure that the students have managed to access the exam paper, the availability of two phone numbers and an email address for students to make any queries or report any problems during the exam, and a thirty-minute Zoom session after the exam to ensure and confirm that all students managed to submit their work.
To make the students aware of the new processes and the new platforms in which to do the exams, the Faculty of ICT organised three faculty-wide trials, one for the Exam VLE type of exams on 20 May 2020, one for the WISEflow multiple choice exams and another for the WISEflow online questions exams, both on 22 May 2020. This experience allowed students to familiarise themselves with the processes and the academic staff and administrators to understand issues with the processes that were corrected for the actual exams.
鈥淭he Faculty of ICT would like to thank IT 福利在线免费 and the Assessments 2020 Support Team for understanding our needs and helping us to successfully perform these trials. The Faculty would also like to take this opportunity to wish good luck to our students for this examination session鈥, said and , Dean and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of ICT.
