The at the University of Malta is pleased to announce that Dr Or Bialik will be the awardee for the International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) Early Career Researcher award.
Dr Bialik is a Marie Curie research fellow who recently joined the University of Malta鈥檚 Department of Geosciences as part of the Marine Geology and Seafloor Surveying group.
The IAS is a main professional association of researchers in the field of sedimentology and sedimentary research, and publishes the two highest ranked journals in the field (Basin Research; Sedimentology).
The IAS awards the Early Career Researcher award only once every two years to recognise the contributions and potential of outstanding early-career scientists working in any area of sedimentology.
Dr. Bialik received his Ph.D. from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, and has since been a researcher at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Princeton University, Charney School of Marine Sciences (university of Haifa) and the University of Hamburg.
His work is of wide scope and includes both modern chemical oceanography of the Mediterranean, the evolution and impact of connectivity between the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean, diagenesis of carbonate rocks, and reconstruction of past marine environments of the Tethyan realm.
