Professor Peter Mayo was one of two speakers invited by the Malta Sociological Association to speak to the issue of ‘How to get published’.
Founding editor of the journal Postcolonial Directions in Education, now in its eleventh volume, Professor Mayo is now Editor of the revived international flagship adult education journal, Convergence and is about to relinquish his co-editorship of the former, as is customary, but not mandatory, for editors of journals after a ten-year period. He intends to concentrate on the latter outlet which was revived at Vol. 43 No. 1.
Mayo is co-editor of the book series ‘Postcolonial Studies in Education’ for Palgrave-Macmillan, a series that resulted from a meeting he held in New York in 2008 with the then US based company’s publishing editor, Julia Cohen. He is also single editor of two other book series: ‘International Issues in Adult Education’(Brill), which now falls under the aegis of the UNESCO Chair in Global Adult Education, and ‘Critical Education’ (Bloomsbury Academic). Brill has published well over 30 books in its series while Palgrave-Macmillan and Bloomsbury Academic have published around 20+ and 10 books respectively. Professor Mayo has published 24 books, only eight of which are edited, around a hundred papers in refereed journals and around, more or less, an equal amount as chapters in edited books.
