The Digital Education Innovations Conference was held on 1 June 2022 at the University of Malta, Valletta Campus. The Conference, a cumulative end of project event for the ERASMUS+ , aimed to share digital education innovations and practical resources developed over a three-year period with digital education experts in five countries and industry.
Professor Colla Mac Donald and Dr Maria Cassar, representing the University of Malta, lead the DIG-IT project. This ERASMUS+ project includes university academics, researchers, clinical educators, industry partners, healthcare professionals, and technology experts from 5 European Union states, namely the University of Malta (as Coordinator), the University of Cyprus, the JAMK University of Applied Sciences (Finland), the Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Primorska (Slovenia) together with St James Hospital Group (Malta).
Professor Frank Bezzina, who addressed the conference on behalf of the UM Rectorate, highlighted the fact that this University of Malta led Erasmus+ project is a testimony of UM's participation in the developments of digital education and that the conference affirms UM's commitment to remain abreast with developments in this field in Europe as well as the wider international arena of education.
While thanking all the UM academics and administrative staff for their work and achievements and commending the project partners, Prof. Bezzina continued that the outputs of the DIG-IT project, showcased at the Conference, attest UM's significant contribution to the development of digital education besides proving to be a delightful experience of productive and efficient collaboration across five European nations. He encouraged the attendees to seek the opportunity to employ and apply the of this project in their work as educators or managers in the field of education .
Professor Victor Buttiegieg addressed the conference on behalf of the Digital Education Committee (DEC) of the UM. Prof. Buttigieg underlined the achievements of the UM in embracing the use of technology in the delivery and assessments of programmes of studies across all disciplines.

More than 80 of the attendees were from entities outside the University of Malta including stakeholders from the public, voluntary and private sector.
