Professor Peter Mayo addressed the Lifelong Learning Interest Group of the European Parliament, as guest speaker/expert, chosen by the European Association of the Education of Adults (EAEA), on the subject of a values driven lifelong learning process for Europe.
Present for this meeting was European Parliament President, Dr Roberta Metsola who also addressed the group.
Professor Mayo spoke about a lifelong learning approach which is broad in scope and not reductionist (confined to simply ‘employability’ which does not necessarily mean employment), and which extends beyond Europe to a social and ecologically sustainable world, given that action in one part has ramifications elsewhere, beyond national, regional and continental confines.
Dr Metsola, for her part, is reported to have registered her commitment to education in European policies at all levels and to non-formal education throughout the world. She also affirmed her commitment to Erasmus Plus.
