Valerie Visanich’s new publication Accomplishing Cultural Policy in Europe: Financing, Governance and Responsiveness has just been published by Routledge. The book is co-edited with Prof. Christopher Mathieu, University of Lund, Sweden. This book is part of the Routledge book series ‘The Sociology and Management of the Arts’. A book launch was held on 15th September at Lund University, during the European Sociological Association, Sociology of Arts Research Network conference.
This book brings together eighteen distinguished scholars from across Europe who discuss intriguing facets of cultural policy, covering the entire policy process in a cutting-edge treatment. A key argument that runs throughout the book is that cultural policy is accomplished, at different stages and levels, through ongoing and recursive processes. Crucial issues involve the commercialization and marketization in culture and the arts, the role of cultural policy in social inclusion, funding and its effects of the arts, and the impact of cultural policy on governance of cultural organizations.
A 20% discount is given on book purchases at the Routledge website when using the code ASM07 until 30 September 2022.
Dr Valerie Visanich is a resident academic in the Department of Sociology in the Faculty of Arts.
