In parallel, the domain of engineering has seen an acceleration of the futuristic trends connected with the Industry 4.0 vision and in detail the use of some key technologies enabling fast manufacturing and remote working. HEIs in the domain of engineering have thus a twofold challenge in front of them: on the one hand the alignment of the pedagogical approach and on the other hand the renewal of the curricula´s content.
The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering are participating in an Erasmus+ project titled “BLISS” (Blended Learning Implementation for reSilient, accessible and efficient higher education). The BLISS project is set to address the challenges which emerged during the pandemic by proposing a blended learning methodological framework to create such learning material.
Between 13 and 14 of October 2022, the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering hosted the project partners for a transnational project meeting at the University of Malta’s Valletta Campus. Partners discussed the state of the art blended learning approaches, as well as a detailed study on the COVID-19 impact in the various participating universities. The Department was represented by Dr Ing Emmanuel Francalanza, Prof Ing Jonathan Borg, Dr Joseph Zammit, and Ms Amberlynn Bonello.
Project BLISS is coordinated by the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden and funded by the Swedish Council for Higher Education through the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, Project No. 2021-1-SE01-KA220-HED-000023166.
