This event discussed different aspects of Guido Lanfranco鈥檚 rigorous work in the field of oral tradition. Lanfranco was born on 18 October 1930 and died a year ago, on 8 September 2021. He is one of Malta鈥檚 main folklore scholars and has collected many tales, legends, rhymes, and expressions transmitted orally.
The seminar was held on 6 October 2022, in the Faculty of Arts Library, at the University of Malta, and the speakers were Prof. Sandro Lanfranco, Prof. Mark Anthony Falzon, Rita Saliba, Yanika Schembri Fava, Michael Deguara, Prof. Adrian Grima, and Kenneth Cassar. Their talks celebrated Guido Lanfranco not only as a scholar of folklore and natural history who studied local plants and popular medicine, amongst other subjects, but also as a keen observer, teacher, writer of limericks, conservationist, and artist.
This seminar is part of the Oral Traditions project of the which is supported by the University鈥檚 Research Fund and Klabb Kotba Maltin.
