The National Productivity Board report for 2022 was recently presented and discussed at a business breakfast organised by the Malta Council for Social and Economic Development (MCESD).
The report was authored by Prof. Philip von Brockdorff, Dr Ian Cassar and Dr Jonathan Spiteri from the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, and focused on Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) in Malta. During the event, which was held at the Phoenicia Hotel on 26 May 2023, the authors outlined the key findings from the report and proposed a set of 10 recommendations in order to cultivate Malta鈥檚 RDI ecosystem and boost productivity over the coming years, following an extensive analysis of recent data as well as an in-depth consultation with various stakeholders and businesses across key economic sectors.
The business breakfast was also addressed by the Prime Minister of Malta, Dr Robert Abela, together with the Minister of Finance Clyde Caruana, the Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue Andy Ellul, and Perit David Xuereb, Chairman of the MCESD, while the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi was also in attendance.
