Students were addressed by the Dean Prof. Dominic Fenech, whilst Mr Charles Azzopardi represented the Bank of Valletta.
Prof. Dominic Fenech, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, explained how the demanding criteria meant that only truly outstanding students could make it into the list. Only students who have achieved high percentile grades without any fails or re-sits can be included in the List. The students must also be recommended by the Head of Department in consultation with other tutors for inclusion in the Dean’s list. He stressed that in order to make the Dean’s list, it was not enough to be a first-class student, but one had to ‘hit the ground running’ right from the start of their degree studies. Recalling that there was a time, not so long ago, that only two or three students met the List’s stringent criteria, he observed that in recent years the number of students who qualified for the award has been significant, attesting to the high quality of the students who chose to study in the Faculty of Arts.
Congratulating the students, Mr Azzopardi said, “It is indeed an honour on this occasion to represent Bank of Valletta, an institution that actively believes in the importance of investing in education and promotes continuous learning among its people."
