Dr Vanessa Camilleri from the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of ICT, has made significant contributions to shaping the future of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education through participation in the prestigious (ASEFInnoLab5).
Her position paper, developed during an intensive 9-week online course, was published as part of a collection examining universities' roles in AI innovation ecosystems by 2060, exploring the critical intersection of continuous professional development and ethical AI integration in higher education.
The work, produced in collaboration with colleagues from Malta, Kazakhstan, Austria, Indonesia, and Lao PDR, offers strategic recommendations for universities to ensure equitable and ethical AI implementation.
Additionally, Dr Camilleri has co-authored a white paper focusing on AI and sustainability, which emerged from a dynamic week-long onsite event in Shanghai, followed by continued online collaboration to refine and finalise the written contribution.
This international collaboration through the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) represents a significant contribution to the global dialogue on AI's future role in higher education.
