The Department of Maltese, within the Faculty of Arts, has just published the fifth issue of Riċerkaturi, an annual journal edited by Prof. Michael Spagnol with articles by BA (Honours) students based on their theses. This issue contains five articles.
Two of them focus on linguistic topics: Sara Abela examines the themes and lyrics of religious hymns, while Maureen Borg investigates lexical differences in four Gozitan dialects. The other three articles deal with literary themes: Michela Buttigieg explores the concept of the pathetic fallacy in the poetic works of Ä an Anton Vassallo, Ä użè Muscat Azzopardi, and Dun Karm Psaila; André Camilleri studies phonesthetics in the poetry of Mario Azzopardi; and Romilda Pace analyzes the political figure in the lyrics of Oliver Friggieri.
