The JRC Board of Governors plays a crucial advisory role, providing strategic guidance to the JRC's Director-General on its contribution to EU research and technological development, as well as its scientific and financial management. Its members are high-level representatives from EU Member States, ensuring the JRC’s work aligns with the needs and priorities across the Union.
Prof. Sinagra brings experience in environmental science, interdisciplinary research, and administration to this role. His work at the University of Malta, particularly within the , has focused on addressing societal challenges through scientific inquiry, fostering international collaboration, and providing leadership.
He firmly believes that all scientific research, regardless of its domain – from cutting-edge technological advancements to critical sociological insights – must ultimately serve to benefit people and society. This principle is in line with the JRC's multidisciplinary mandate to provide independent evidence for robust policy making across the European Union.
