Dr Ing. Lawrence Farrugia Caruana, from the Faculty of Education, presented a co-authored paper at the Constructionism 2025 Conference, held at ETH Zurich between 24–27 June 2025. The presentation formed part of the Erasmus+ CARS Project (Children as Creators of Augmented Reality Stories, Project No: 2023-1-MT01-KA220-SCH-000154134), which investigates the use of Augmented Reality (AR) to support language learning through a constructionist approach.
The paper, titled “Children as Creators of Augmented Reality Stories: A Constructionist Approach to Language Learning,” was co-authored with Prof. Leonard Busuttil, Dr Jacqueline Żammit (University of Malta), and researchers from partner institutions in Cyprus, Spain, and Mexico. It explores how children aged 10–12 can become creators of their own AR narratives, combining storytelling with hands-on digital authoring to enhance language comprehension and creative expression.
In addition to delivering the presentation, Dr Farrugia Caruana was invited to chair a full paper session, contributing to discussions on learner-centred and technology-enhanced education.
