The Social Innovation Challenge: Enable and Engage is a competition that was launched on 20 April by the Edward de Bono Institute in collaboration with the Parliamentary Secretariat for the Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing with the support of MAPFRE Middlesea and MSV Life. Prizes of €2000 and €500 will be assigned to the first and second placing entries respectively.
The competition is aimed at individuals or teams who may spot a difficulty or an area for improvement in the field of disability (of any type) and active ageing. A workshop aimed at potential participants will be held on 4 May between 17:00 and 20:00 at the Middlesea House in Floriana.
The workshop will cover the main elements that participants are required to address in their proposals. By the end of the session, participants will have better knowledge in how to generate ideas, and how to prepare a feasibility study as required for this competition. In addition, information about intellectual property rights of participants will be delivered. The workshop will be delivered by Dr Leonie Baldacchino and Dr Margaret Mangion from the Edward de Bono Institute and by Dr Anton Bartolo Director Corporate Research and Knowledge Transfer at the University of Malta.
