Regional Strategies – ESPON ReSSI Inception Delivery
Coventry City Council, Southern Denmark Region, Piedmont Region, Oeiras City Council, the four stakeholders of the targeted analysis ReSSI, address crucial questions to the research team in order to investigate how the Europe 2020 objectives can be promoted by local authorities, in the context of evolving landscapes of territorial governance and planning.
In their Inception Delivery, the Universities of Coventry, Copenhagen, Politecnico di Torino and Lisbon, have elaborated the conceptual and methodological framework and the general research context of the targeted analysis.
The delivery provides a first overview of the most prevalent governance systems in Europe and offers an outline of the opportunities and challenges for cities and regions following changes in governance in the aftermath of the financial crisis.

Master Class on EU Cohesion Policy
The European Commission DG Regio, the Committee of the Regions and the Regional Studies Association in cooperation with the European Regional Science Association and the Association of European Schools of Planning, is organising the 5th Master Class on EU Cohesion Policy. This Master Class which will be held in Brussels Brussels from 8 to 12 October 2017 is open to Ph.D. students and early career researchers during the European Week of Regions and Cities.
The Master Class is a unique format to connect young researchers and will include presentations of papers by the participants as well as lectures and panel debates with policy makers, EU officials and senior academics to improve understanding of and research on EU Cohesion Policy.
