Council appointed resident academic members of staff (TR4 and higher) are invited to apply for the Annual Research Fund for the year 2018. In addition, applicants are being offered two options, to be indicated in the application form:
1. Apply for Annual Research Fund 2018 only
2. Apply for Annual Research Fund 2018 plus € 60,000 project.
Please note that the selection of the € 60,000 project option does not affect the applicants’ entitlement for the 2018 Research Fund, and the same application shall apply for the Research Fund as well as the € 60,000 project.
The € 60,000 project funds may be used to hire Research Support Officers and/or purchase equipment and related consumables. One of such projects shall be awarded in each of the categories below:
- Natural Sciences
- Engineering, ICT & Architecture
- Life Sciences & Medical
- Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.
Only those applications whose proponents have submitted the requested feedback reports will be eligible.

The selection criteria regulating the award of the € 60k research grants, are as follows:
- quality of the proposed research and proposed outputs (25%)
- feasibility and ability to execute (25%)
- relevance (at a University, National and/or Global level) (20%)
- long-term implications (i.e. does it fit within a longer-term initiative/programme/plan, can it leverage additional funding, etc.) (20%)
- quality of the proposal (clarity, conciseness, etc.) (10%).
