TrainMALTA will be hosting an EMBL-EBI Train the Trainer (TtT) workshop to provide new trainers with guidance and tips for developing and delivering training; exploring the motivations behind learning, reviewing a range of methods to engage learners and keep them actively learning, examining the requirements for a successful course and acquiring appropriate feedback.
The workshop will:
- provide guidance on general training techniques and appropriate use of methods based on learner needs, including some general do’s and do not’s for successful training
- provide a framework for successful curriculum design and further development, to enable trainers to build training appropriate to their learner’s needs.
The major themes to be covered during the day include:
1. What makes good and bad training?
2. What makes a good trainer?
3. How do people learn?
4. What methods work well for learning?
5. Designing a training session - learning aims and objectives.
6. Developing training materials (and finding them!)
7. Feedback / assessment - how to get it, what to do with it
8. Summary

Be prepared to give a quick overview of your training experience to date i.e. what training you have been involved in delivering
Think about the training you have been involved in to date, whether as trainee, trainer or assistant. Reflect on these experiences….
