The European Patent Office and the EU Intellectual Property Office is offering UM graduates the opportunity to participate in a paid one year work-experience in either office, commencing in September 2021.
The European Patent Office (EPO) is the organ of the intergovernmental European Patent Organisation which carries out the task of granting European patents, including drawing up European search reports and examination of European Patent applications. The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) is the European Union Agency responsible for registering European Union trademarks and European Union designs in the EU, and for running the EU Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
The PES traineeship targets young graduates, who have obtained a full undergraduate/master's degree or its equivalent no later than two years prior to the date of the application, or are currently enrolled in PhD studies.
Interested applicants must submit their CV and a motivation letter to the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) via email by close of business on Wednesday 24 February.
Applicants will then be called in for a short meeting with the KTO, following which a list of recommended applicants will be submitted to the EPO and EUIPO. Please note that the same candidates cannot be included in the EUIPO and EPO shortlists.
Candidates are to then submit their applications through the e-recruitment tool by 31 March 2021. The tools can be accessed as follows:
