1One of the overarching concerns of SEA-EU is to make our planet and our society more sustainable. Let us take the first steps and lead by example through our campuses by creating projects that tackle SDG goals in making our campus a more sustainable space.
SEA-EU Makeathon is part of the initiative and is co-organised by University of Brest, University of Cadiz, University of Gdansk, University of Malta and University of Split with the support of University of Kiel. Participating teams will be supported by innovation experts to design, test, reiterate, and enhance their services or products developed through the Makeathon competition. The end result is to be a tangible digital or physical prototype (including prototypes for service-based projects). The highest scoring teams will participate in the grand finale at the University of Split in November 2021.
Who can participate?

Students from all of the six SEA-EU Alliance universities. Teams consisting of members from several different universities are welcomed.

Each team should have at least one university employee (i.e. researcher, professor…) This can be done at the project idea application phase or later.

Other parties such as companies and various other stakeholders such as NGOs, Media and representatives from the Maritime sector etc.

Project idea selection criteria:

The project idea needs to tackle and create a solution for one of the ,

The project is it contribute to the betterment of campus life in line with the chosen SDG,

The project team is to be mixed and comprised of representatives of various target groups,
-
The project idea needs to account for the extent of the impact of the solution,
-
The project is also to be shaped with the aim that other universities within the SEA-EU Alliance and other Alliances benefit from it.
Makeathon timeline:

Call for project ideas is open till 25 September 2021.

The Makeathon Launch will be held on 25 September 2021 during the live days of Science in the City.

Makeathon month will be held during the month of October. Teams will have a joint learning process and will be trained by the experts from all participating universities. The participating teams will also get access to a joint communication platform to share their ideas and ask any questions.

The Local Demonstration of each project is to be held by the end of October

Teams chosen from the local events will have the opportunity to participate at the showcase event at University of Split in November
