The Faculty for Social Wellbeing would like to invite you to take part in one of the largest editorial projects about Inequality - Mapping Global Inequality. Major Reference Work Book Series being published by Springer Nature, United States.
This Series consists of several volumes, but an individual call for contribution to each volume separately will be published. In this call for contribution, we are particularly seeking authors for the volume writing about Gender Inequality.
This volume in the Mapping Global Inequalities series aims to explore the extent of gender inequality in different societies and the role of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in achieving gender equity across the globe. This volume intends to address several intersectional issues related to gender inequality and development in different regimes and regions. We aim to provide a deeper understanding on the changing role of gender, perception of gender and the marginalisation and segregation of sections of the population on the basis of gender in societies across the globe.
The volume will also attempt to understand what public engagement looks like in different fields of the social sciences and what impact this has on establishing a gender balanced society based on the principles and goals set by the Sustainable Development Goals. Contributions from across the social science discipline that addresses any type of challenges related to gender equality are welcomed. We aim to address the following questions in this volume:
-
What do we know about the Gender Inequality (i.e., what is the definition and extent of the Gender Inequality)?
-
Why does gender inequality existing and what are the consequences (i.e., root causes from micro, meso or macro level)?
-
How effective are gender indicators when it comes to measure gender inequality?
-
What does available data say about gender inequalities in different countries
-
How different societies across the globe are tackling inequality with regards to gender and gender identity (i.e., what are viable solutions for reducing, mitigating, solving, or abolishing the problem)?
-
Understanding gender from an intersectional perspective – race, age, sexual orientation, disability, etc.
-
The effectiveness of gender mainstreaming in eradicating gender inequality
Our aim is to gather the best possible contributions in the respective areas and make this reference work truly global in nature. There will be a minimum of 40 chapters in this volume and each chapter will discuss different aspects of inequality in different socio-political and economic contexts.
Further, the aim in each issue is to saturate the whole problem of inequality from two perspectives: countries and topics. This will give us a sense of fulfilling the description of the indicated problem of inequality. Each of these volumes will also include chapters on cross country comparisons to provide an understanding of similarities and differences in many aspects of inequality across different regimes and regions.
It is recommended that academic authors have, be supervised by, or in pursuit of their PhD, whereas non-academic professionals should have at least three years of experience in the field.
