The Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) is participating in a new transnational initiative: the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership). MCST has allocated a national budget of €500,000 to finance projects with Maltese stakeholders, awarded under the first Joint Call 2022. The overarching aim is
to empower the energy transition and contribute to the EU’s goal of becoming the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
The upcoming First Joint Call 2022 is organized as follows:
- 2-stage Call (Pre-Proposal and Full Proposal)
- Launch date: 14 September 2022
- Pre-proposal submission deadline: 23 November 2022 14:00 CET
- Consortium eligibility: at least three independent legal entities from at least three different participating countries
Moreover, the CETPartnership topics/challenges have been identified and translated into the following Transition Initiatives (TRIs):
- TRI 1: Integrated Net-zero-emissions Energy System
- TRI 2: Enhanced zero emission Power Technologies
- TRI 3: Enabling Climate Neutrality with Storage Technologies, Renewable Fuels and CCU/CCS
- TRI 4: Efficient zero emission Heating and Cooling Solutions
- TRI 5: Integrated Regional Energy Systems
- TRI 6: Integrated Industrial Energy Systems
- TRI 7: Integration in the Built Environment

MCST is organising an evening information/networking event aimed primarily at industry, on Wednesday 28 September 2022 at Villa Bighi, Kalkara. During this event, entity representatives will have the opportunity to showcase their work through a two-minute pitch (places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis). Furthermore, an online informative CETPartnership Call Launch Event for international potential applicants will take place on Tuesday 13 September 2022.
