The Maltese Government is constantly stepping up its efforts to fast-track sustainable development. Malta’s Sustainable Development Action Awards have been established to recognise, promote, celebrate and reward individuals, NGOs, businesses, academic teams and public institutions/bodies that are leading the way in sustainable innovation and practices with the aim of increasing economic, social and environmental sustainability. To this purpose, the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness invites and encourages all those eligible to take up the challenge and the opportunity to help deliver sustainable change.
These awards are divided into eight categories:
- Research and Innovation Award – open ONLY to Academics and Academic Teams.
- Community Impact Award – open ONLY to Voluntary Organisations and Local and Regional Councils.
- Youth Leadership Award – open ONLY to Youths aged 13-30.
- ESG Positive Impact Award – open ONLY to Private Businesses.
- Environment Award – open ONLY to Individuals and Voluntary Organisations.
- Sustainable School Award – open ONLY to Primary, Secondary and Post-Secondary schools (state, church and private).
- Sustainability in Journalism Award – open ONLY to Journalists and/or contributors to the media in Malta.
- Public Service Sustainability Award – open ONLY to Bodies or Entities that fall under the Public Service or Public Sector.
