Corinne Muscat Terribile from MCST has kindly accepted our invitation to introduce the programme to UM academics and researchers, as well as provide information about the first calls for proposals. The information session will be held on 14 March 2018 at 12:00, TAKEOFF.The first calls of proposals under the PRIMA programme have been published! The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area has been launched in order to support research and innovation through distinct types of actions/activities:
In Section 1: Research & Innovation Actions (RIA), and Innovation actions (IA) as defined in the General Annexes of H2020
In Section 2: Research and Innovation Activities (RIA*[2]) based on national rules
In Section 3: National research programmes (PSIAs)

The Strategic Partnerships call is still open! It welcomes projects concerned with innovative means of education, including intellectual outputs, blended learning through virtual and physical mobilities, and dissemination through multiplier events.

Marie Sk艂odowska Curie Actions (MSCA) 2018
Would you like to learn more about the revamped Marie Sk艂odowska-Curie actions? Searching for bottom-up research funding and host a post-doc researcher? Are you a research institution/company looking for partnership with academia in third countries as well as industry? The following calls for proposals are currently open:
1. MSCA Research and Innovation Staff Exchanges (RISE) . Deadline: 21 March 2018
2. MSCA Individual Fellowship (IF) - This year, for the first time, this call will extend to 'Widening Fellowships', meaning that if a fellowship is not awarded under the general call, it will be eligible under a call for the 'low-performing' member states, including Malta, thus increasing our chances of getting funded! .

INTERREG Europe
4th call for projects is due to be launched in May, closing in mid-June 2018. It welcomes projects in the field of improvements to existing similar policies across Europe. Further information on the programme including a partner search tool, project ideas searching for partners and the relevant Priority Axes is available .

HORIZON 2020 TWINNING
This call is designed specifically for the 'low performing' member states including Malta. It needs to be coordinated by Malta, partnering up with two other 'Centres of Excellence'. It does not fund research but rather networking between these three entities in order to improve research performance. .

HORIZON 2020 ERA Chairs
This call, also designed specifically for the "low performing" member states including Malta, is intended to develop a new research area in Malta. Funding is available to engage an expert in the research field as well as his/her team for a period of 5 years. .

MCST Space Research Fund
Following a consultation session held at the UM in November 2018, the drafting of the Malta/ESA implementation arrangement is now in its final stages and a first call is envisaged for Q2 of 2018. Prior to the issuing of the call a workshop will be held on the call structure and rules, application process, and one-to one consultation session with an ESA Earth Observation expert
