What do we know about this?
Through communication received on the 22 January 2019 the UK National Agency has confirmed that under the terms of the EU (withdrawal agreement) bill 2019-2020, which provides the detail of the UK鈥檚 departure from the EU on 31 January 2020, it outlines that the UK will continue to participate fully in the current Erasmus+ programme. Therefore, the UK鈥檚 involvement in Erasmus+ in the current phase of the programmes remains unchanged.
All successful 2020 Erasmus call applicants (Universities) will be able to collaborate with the UK for the full duration of their project.
What does this mean?
This means that selected 2020 Erasmus+ projects will be able to send participants to the UK as well as host UK participants, and participate in funded KA2/3 projects (both UK led and those involving UK partners) for the full duration of their project.
The UK Government has stated that it remains open to participation in the new programmes from 2021 until 2027, and this will be part of their negotiations with the EU in the coming months.
And for UM Staff and Students?
To this end, UM students and staff will be able to apply for funding to proceed with Erasmus+ Mobilities to the UK during the upcoming academic year 2020/2021.
Students who had secured or been allocated placements in the UK during the current academic year (including the summer months) will receive Erasmus grants. Funds are also available on a first-come first-served basis for students wishing to pursue a traineeship in the UK until September 2020.
The Erasmus+ 2020 Call for application for student mobility will be published in the coming days and a call for staff mobility will be published in the spring.
